Trans Arterial Chemo Embolization (TACE) - Nan ah hospital
Package details
TACE is the direct delivery of drugs to treat liver tumors. In this procedure, the radiologist (IR) will insert a small catheter (2-3 mm) into an artery from the groin area and use the process under an X-ray machine that can see the moving image on the screen at all times to move the catheter up to the middle of the body, continue to the liver area and to the blood vessels that supply the tumor directly. Then, chemotherapy will be injected through the catheter into the tumor. After that, the blood vessels supplying the tumor will be blocked to isolate it and the tumor cells will die. During this procedure, the patient does not need to be put under anesthesia. Just a small injection of local anesthesia in the groin area will not cause any pain. The wound to puncture the artery in the groin area is less than half a centimeter in size and the hospital stay will take about 2-3 days.
