How important is carotid duplex ultrasonography?

Who should be examined?
- People who have symptoms of stroke, such as hardening of the arteries, blocked arteries.
- Patients with hemiplegia, paralysis, to look for lesions in the carotid arteries and follow up on the results periodically.
- Patients who have had a transient ischemic attack.
- People with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes.
- People who have a family history of a stroke before the age of 60 or a family history of a stroke.
