General information
1. HIV test
- The third generation HIV test is the third generation HIV test. It should be done at least 21 days after suspected HIV infection. In other words, This test has a 21-day waiting period.
- The fourth-generation HIV test is designed to detect both HIV antibodies and the HIV p24 antigen. It has a 2-week waiting period.
What is the waiting period?
It is the time period during which a screening test cannot detect antibodies even if the body has already been infected.
After this time, the antibody levels are high enough to be detected by the test.
2. Syphilis
- Syphilis is easily transmitted through close physical contact and sexual contact through saliva, blood, or bodily fluids. Glove Clinic offers two types of syphilis screening tests:
2.1 Anti-TP (rapid blood test)
- This test will show a positive or negative result. If you have a history of syphilis infection, this test will not provide information about new infections. You should use a VDRL titer instead.
2.2 VDRL titer
- This test takes 1-3 business days to produce results. The VDRL titer is used to monitor treatment and to diagnose new infections.
3. Hepatitis B and C
- Hepatitis B and C can be transmitted through blood and sexual contact. We recommend that you get tested if you want to start PrEP/PEP or if your partner has been diagnosed with hepatitis B or C. You can also check if you have sufficient immunity to hepatitis B, and we also offer an Anti-HBsAg test.
4. Herpes 1/2 IgM and IgG
- A herpes blood test is usually not required for diagnosis. However, a herpes IgM test can be a useful tool to confirm a new infection, but herpes IgG will remain positive after the first infection. We recommend that you speak to our staff before testing.
5. PCR for 11 STDs
Although this test is quite expensive, it is still recommended to get tested regularly, as sometimes you may be infected but not have any symptoms. The 11 STDs are;
- 1. Chlamydia trachomatis (serovars A-K)
- 2. Chlamydia trachomatis (serovars L1-L3)
- 3. Neisseria gonorrhoeae
- 4. Mycoplasma hominis
- 5. Mycoplasma genitalium
- 6. Ureaplasma urealyticum
- 7. Ureaplasma parvum
- 8. Herpes simplex virus type 1
- 9. Trichomonas vaginalis
- 10. Treponema pallidum (Syphilis)
- 11. Haemophilus ducreyi
6. HPV (Human papillomavirus) typing
- There are many types of HPV, but some are more serious than others and can cause cervical or anal cancer. If you know early on that you have a high-risk HPV strain, This will allow you to see a doctor faster to prevent such cancer.
