Symptoms of non-gonococcal urethritis
Symptoms of non-gonococcal urethritis may not initially show obvious symptoms. After infection, symptoms will vary by gender within 1-3 weeks, as follows:
Symptoms of non-gonococcal urethritis in men will show the following:
- Clear or cloudy mucus flowing from the tip of the penis, which is not urine or semen
- Inflammation of the foreskin
- Pain or burning sensation in the penis while urinating
- Pain or swelling in the testicles
Symptoms of non-gonococcal urethritis in women
Most often, there are no symptoms. Only 30% of patients in women will have symptoms. Symptoms often include:
- Abnormal vaginal discharge with a foul odor
- Pain or burning in the genitals when urinating
- Itching or burning around the genitals
- Feeling pain in the lower abdomen during menstruation or during intercourse
