General Information

HPV (Human papilloma virus) is a viral strain of more than 100 strains, of which about 40 cause disease. The known are strains 16 and 18 that cause cervical and anal cancer and strains 6 and 11 that cause genital warts. which at present there is no cure But it can be prevented with HPV vaccination. The HPV vaccine can prevent about 70% of the infection. There are two types:

Bivalent vaccine (Cervarix) protects against HPV strains 16 and 18 that cause cervical cancer.

The four-strain HPV vaccine (Quadrivalent vaccine: Gardasil) protects against HPV strains 6 and 11 that cause genital warts and strains 16 and 18 that cause cervical cancer.
