Who is hemorrhoid surgery suitable for?
Hemorrhoid surgery is often used to treat severe hemorrhoids with protruding polyps. It is suitable for
- People with internal hemorrhoids stage 3
- People with internal hemorrhoids stage 4
- People with external hemorrhoids
Most of them often experience protruding tissue around the anus, pain during defecation, blood clots, protruding tissue around the anus that must be pushed back with fingers. Some people may have pain in the anus to the point of being unable to defecate.
Preparation before receiving treatment
For preparation before hemorrhoid surgery, patients must prepare for surgery at least 1 day as follows:
- Fasting for at least 8 hours.
- Patients will be sent for a physical examination to prepare for surgery.
- The doctor will take blood, X-ray the lungs. If the patient is 40 years old, an electrocardiogram will be performed.
- The anesthesiologist will check the symptoms again before surgery.
- The patient must have a bowel movement and laxatives before surgery, receive intravenous fluids, and enema to prepare for surgery.
- During surgery, the anesthesiologist will administer anesthesia. Place in a supine position for surgery. The doctor will administer anesthesia or inject local anesthesia into the spinal cord. The surgery takes approximately 1 hour.
